The Evron Centre is steeped in history. In 1909, after adding a second storey to the original house purchased from Mayo Robson, making this into bedrooms, The Sisters of Evron (an Order of Nuns originating from Evron near Le Mans in France) opened up the building as a High School for Girls, giving it the name Convent of the Sacred Heart (as it was opened on the Feast of the Sacred Heart). In the year 1920 the convent school began to flourish and was occupied by over 100 pupils. The school sadly closed in 1968, however we are delighted that the ‘old girls’ hold their reunion here every year.
Today, The Evron Centre is firmly established in the heart of Filey and provides both business clients and community groups with a multi-purpose centre situated uniquely within the town.
The Centre is surrounded by magnificent gardens offering unrivalled views across Filey Bay to Flamborough Head.
Our rooms are licensed for Non-Religious Civil Weddings, Civil Partnerships and Vow Renewal Ceremonies and provide a choice of room to suit your requirements.
Room21/22 offers views across The Evron Centre Gardens and Filey Bay. The gardens are served by a large stone patio area offering that unique location with spectacular views for guests and those all important photographs.
The Concert Hall is ideal for arrival drinks or reception canapes and perfect for your evening entertainment as it is complete with dancefloor, bar area, audio/visual equipment and a raised stage area for your favourite Band or DJ/Entertainer.
